How long will people pay attention to a link you post online? According to a new study, this depends on where you post the link.
Different kinds of links rise and fall at different speeds depending on the platform they are posted on. The study results show that links posted to YouTube last 7.4 hours, while links on Twitter, Facebook and other sites average around 3 hours. You can see this dramatic difference in the graph shown.
However, it could have more to do with the content of posts, rather than location. Posts on YouTube obviously have video content, which can engage users for a longer period of time. Recent studies show that 50% of all web traffic is video. This leads us to believe that the lifespan of a link is connected more to content than post location it, thus increasing the importance of engaging, and optimized video content for a successful marketing campaign.
