This year, marketers lived by the phrase, “content is king”. However, a new study found that a specific type of content reigns above others. During the month of October, more than 200 billion videos were watched online.

As expected, the figures show that Google Sites, driven by YouTube.com, ranked as the top video destination with nearly 88.3 billion videos in October.

Breaking the data down by country reveals some interesting observations. Viewers in Canada and the U.S. averaged the highest number of videos per viewer in October, at 303 videos and 286 videos, respectively.

Online videos have the unique ability to spread messages and ideas globally, especially when incorporated into a digital marketing strategy. We expect to see further integration of video content, specifically among national brands.
