On Friday, Google PR executives ignored Google+ in favor of a more popular social network. Google chose Facebook to post a teaser about a big announcement today concerning GoogleTV. However, nothing was mentioned on the Google+ page for the company’s Internet TV service.
The “big announcement” turned out to be nothing more than a YouTube app for GoogleTV.
Yet the most intriguing part of Google’s news is the use of Facebook as their main channel of communication. This could mean that speculation about Google’s plans to dominate social media with Google+ is unfounded, and instead they plan on using it as a compliment to other social media services. Or, they could just be using Facebook as a medium to create exposure for Google+. Either way, Facebook is still the network that reaches the most people, and Google knows it.
