The Wildwoods, a group of neighboring New Jersey beach resorts, are preparing for this year’s swimsuit season a little differently. The Wildwood Tourism authority is calling on tourists to give their opinion on what they love about the shore towns. They’re enticing people to respond through a contest called “Share the Love.” People who submit their opinions through the Wildwoods website are entered to win an array of tech related prizes, including a Sony plasma TV, iPhone, iPad, and Sony home theater system.
The Tourism Authority will share these entries on Facebook, Twitter, and in TV and radios ads.
If sites such as Yelp! and Foursquare are any indication, the public considers peer reviews to be a more legitimate source of information than traditional marketing. By paying attention to current trends, the Wildwoods have come up with an effective marketing campaign that should lead to a successful beach season.
