After being accused of forging information on his resume, Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson has stepped down from his position. It has only been four months since he came to Yahoo from PayPal.

It is reported that Yahoo will cite “personal reasons for Thompson’s departure, while the former CEO will say he is leaving because of thyroid cancer.

Yahoo claims it is Thompson’s handling of the situation, not the resume error, which led to him being asked to leave. Whatever the reason, the former Internet pioneer is down another CEO. Ross Levisohn, Yahoo’s head of global media will take over as interim CEO.
