Harrah’s Chester, a casino located in the Delaware County suburbs of Philadelphia, is changing its name to attempt to close the distance between it and the city. On May 12, the casino became Harrah’s Philadelphia, and introduced a new area of 200 new slot machines.
The name change is an attempt to curb the casino’s falling slot revenue, which dropped by 7.6 percent last month. It is fourth highest grossing casino in the state. Hopefully, renaming the casino Philadelphia will lure more people to go there, drawing connections between the gambling venue and the city, rather than the suburbs.
