Yesterday evening Microsoft made waves in the tech world by introducing their new tablet: the Surface.
The device is revolutionary for the tablet market and Microsoft itself. It is sleek and simplistic with a 10 inch screen, and works well enough with its attachable keyboard to contend with Apple’s Ultrabook as well as their iPad.
The Surface is a milestone for Microsoft because it is the first device they have built independent of their partners. Traditional PC manufacturers like Dell and Lenova had no part in its creation, however we can expect them to be releasing their own tablets once Windows 8 launches in the fall.
Although the Surface may not topple Apple’s ivory tower, its design will make it a fierce competitor and light a fire under Microsoft’s declining sales.
