Early this morning NASA’s rover Curiosity landed successfully on Mars. The landing was intensely difficult, known throughout the science community as “seven minutes of terror.” Back in California, mission control erupted in cheers as soon as the rover landed.
While the aim of the mission is to decide if Mars was ever able to support small life forms, the rover will be sending back pictures of the planet. NASA has already posted the first image to Twitter. Curiosity has a two year tour planned, and we are excited to see what information it will send back.
